Meaco portable air conditioning

Looking for a Meaco air conditioner? Start with two. The MeacoCool Pro 9000 is the all-rounder we rate highest (4.2 out of 5): it cools a medium room quickly, heats too, and the cooling and heating model was around £370 when we last checked. The Cirro 12000 (3.9 out of 5) is the quieter pick for a bedroom, at around £520 for the cooling-only model, though it was out of stock with a restock due in March 2027.

Meaco is a British company based in Guildford that has built its name on air treatment, dehumidifiers first and cooling second. Its MeacoCool portable air conditioners are monobloc units you wheel into a room and vent through a window, aimed at people who cannot or do not want to fit a permanent split. What sets them apart is a focus on quiet running and straightforward UK support rather than the lowest possible price.

The range moved on in 2026. The older MeacoCool MC Series Pro is now down to two cooling-and-heating models, the Pro 9000 and Pro 10000, with the smaller Pro 7000 discontinued. Above them sits the newer Cirro range, which Meaco pitches on quieter running: the Cirro 12000, plus the Cirro+ 14000 and 16000, which add an inverter compressor, each in cooling-only and cooling-and-heating versions.

Most use low-GWP R290 refrigerant and offer cooling, fan and dehumidifier modes. They are not cheap for a portable, and like any monobloc they are less efficient and more noticeable than a wall-mounted split, but for a renter or a room that cannot take fitted kit they are a sensible, well-backed choice.

Meaco is best known for dehumidifiers, and we review those too: see our Meaco dehumidifier reviews and the best dehumidifiers for UK homes.
