Who we are
Aircon Adviser (airconadviser.co.uk) is an independent UK air conditioning advice site and installer directory operated by Saint Associates Ltd, Front Suite, 1st Floor, Charles House, 148-149 Great Charles Street, Birmingham, B3 3HT. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it.
The personal data we collect
When you send an enquiry or request a quote. If you use one of our quote or enquiry forms we collect the name, email address, phone number and postcode you give us, the details of the job you describe, and the page you sent it from. We also record the time and your IP address to help prevent spam and misuse.
When you contact us. If you use our contact form we collect the name, email address and message you provide.
Analytics and site data. Like most websites, our hosting provider and Cloudflare keep server and security logs that record technical details such as your IP address and browser. We also use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site. Analytics only load if you accept them through our cookie banner.
How we use enquiry and quote data, and who receives it
This is the most important part of this policy, so we have set it out plainly.
When you send an enquiry from a specific installer's page, we pass your enquiry to that installer so they can contact you about your job. When you use a "find me an installer" or "get matched quotes" form, you are asking us to find suitable installers for you, so we pass your enquiry to Aircon Adviser and then on to one or more installers who cover your area and can do the work.
In both cases, the installer or installers who receive your enquiry are separate businesses and become responsible for your data in their own right once they receive it. They will use your details to contact you and prepare a quote. We ask installers to handle your data responsibly, but we do not control how each installer uses it, so we recommend checking an installer's own privacy policy if you have questions about how they will handle your information.
We use your details to operate the enquiry service, to match you with suitable installers, to prevent spam and fraud, and to improve how the service works. Our lawful basis for sharing your enquiry with an installer is that you have asked us to put you in contact with an installer, and we make clear at the point you submit the form who will receive your details. Our lawful basis for keeping security logs and for basic anti-spam checks is our legitimate interest in running a secure, working service.
How long we keep enquiry data
We keep enquiries for as long as we need them to run and support the service and to deal with any query or dispute about them, and no longer than 12 months unless we are required to keep them longer. After that we delete or anonymise them.
Selling data
We do not sell your personal data to advertisers or list brokers. Sharing your enquiry with an installer so they can quote for your job, as described above, is not selling your data.
Businesses listed in our directory
Our directory includes air conditioning installers across the UK. Some of this business information was compiled from public sources, including public business listings. Where that information identifies an individual (for example a sole trader's name, email or phone number), it is personal data and we process it to run the directory and connect installers with customers. If you run or work at a listed business, our notice for listed businesses explains what we hold, why, and how to correct or remove your listing. See Information for listed businesses or contact us using the details below.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the site, for example which guides are read most and how people find us. Google Analytics sets cookies on your device and the data it collects may be processed by Google. IP addresses are anonymised. Our cookie banner lets you accept or decline analytics cookies, and we only load Google Analytics if you accept. Our lawful basis for analytics cookies is your consent.
Cookies
We use a small number of essential cookies that the site needs to work, such as the cookie that remembers your consent choice. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you consent to them through the banner. You can withdraw or change your consent at any time, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy from the retailer, we earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This is one of the ways the site is funded and it does not change the price you pay or the advice we give. When you click an affiliate link, the affiliate network or retailer may set cookies on your device so the sale can be attributed to us. Those cookies are set by the third party, not by us, and are covered by their own privacy policies.
Other third parties who process data for us
We do not sell personal data. The third parties that process data on our behalf are Google (analytics), our hosting provider and Cloudflare (security and performance), and our email delivery provider (sending enquiry notifications and account emails). Each processes data under its own terms and safeguards. Installers who receive your enquiry are not our processors; they are separate controllers, as explained above.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, to withdraw consent where we rely on it, and to receive your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the form linked below. If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
