A long warranty and a design trick up its sleeve
LG is a mid-to-premium challenger with two clear hooks. The first is warranty: its DUALCOOL wall units come with a 10-year warranty on the compressor, the most expensive part to replace. The second is styling: the ARTCOOL Gallery is a wall unit with a 27-inch display that shows your photos or artwork, hiding the usual white box.
The DUALCOOL family runs from the Standard Plus through the Deluxe to the newer DUALCOOL Pro, with air-hygiene features such as UVnano fan sterilisation and an ioniser on the higher models. Units use lower-impact R32 refrigerant, reach A++ efficiency, run quietly thanks to the DUAL Inverter compressor, and are widely stocked, so they are easy to source.
Two things to keep in mind. The headline 10-year cover applies to the compressor only, with general parts cover of around 3 years, and both depend on the system being installed by an F-Gas certified engineer and registered. And while efficiency is good, the peak figures trail the very best A+++ units from Samsung, Mitsubishi and Daikin.
