LG DUALCOOL: Standard Plus, Deluxe and Pro compared
LG's core wall-split family comes in three tiers that share the same DUAL Inverter compressor but differ on efficiency, air hygiene and price. Here is which DUALCOOL to buy, real UK prices, and what the 10-year warranty really covers.
What DUALCOOL actually is
DUALCOOL is LG's mainstream wall-mounted split family: an indoor unit paired with an outdoor condenser for a single room, or an indoor unit running on an LG multi-split outdoor unit to serve several. It is the plainer, more affordable sibling to the design-led ARTCOOL line.
In the UK it is sold in three tiers, Standard Plus, Deluxe and Pro. They all share LG's DUAL Inverter compressor, R32 refrigerant and ThinQ Wi-Fi control, so the core experience is consistent. The tier you choose sets the efficiency, the air-hygiene extras and the price, and the whole family holds an A++ cooling rating.

Pro, Deluxe and Standard Plus: how the tiers differ
All three tiers share the same DUAL Inverter compressor, R32 refrigerant and ThinQ Wi-Fi app, so the core experience is consistent. The differences are in efficiency, air hygiene and price.
Standard Plus is the entry point. You get the DUAL Inverter, ThinQ Wi-Fi and quiet running, with fewer air-quality extras than the Deluxe. The 2.5 kW model posts a SEER of about 7.0 and an A++ cooling rating. It is the value route into the family and its 10-year compressor warranty.
Deluxe is the mid tier and the air-quality choice. It adds UVnano fan sterilisation, a Plasmaster Ioniser+, Auto Clean and a washable pre-filter, and it posts the strongest small-size efficiency in the family: the 2.5 kW Deluxe reaches a SEER of 7.90 and drops to 19 dB(A). If air hygiene and quiet running matter most, this is the sweet spot.
Pro is the newer, smart, keenly priced line. It is A++ cooling and A+ heating, with ThinQ, Auto Clean and a consumer-friendly package, and it is usually the cheapest way into DUALCOOL. It runs from about 25 dB(A), a little louder than the Deluxe at its quietest, and it relies on Auto Clean and washable filters rather than the full UVnano hygiene suite.

What a DUALCOOL costs to buy and run
Prices vary by tier. Unit-only, a DUALCOOL Pro 12,000 BTU starts from around £550 to £580 including VAT at consumer e-tailers, rising through installer channels; a Deluxe 7.0 kW is nearer £1,574 including VAT. Supplied and fitted, budget roughly £1,400 to £1,800 for a Pro-based 2.5 to 3.5 kW single split, up towards £2,500 to £2,800 for a larger 5 to 7 kW Deluxe. Treat these as bands and work from two or three live quotes.
Running costs are low thanks to the inverter. Depending on tier, SCOP runs from about 4.0 to 5.4, so in heating a DUALCOOL returns roughly 4 to 5 kW of heat for every 1 kW of electricity. At an assumed 25p per kWh, a typical evening's cooling costs only a few pence to around 20p to 30p. Real costs depend on your room, how you use it and your tariff. Prices and the unit rate are correct as of July 2026; the Ofgem cap changes quarterly, so check the current rate.

What is the difference between DUALCOOL Pro, Deluxe and Standard Plus? +
All three share the DUAL Inverter compressor, R32 refrigerant and ThinQ Wi-Fi. Standard Plus is the value entry unit, Deluxe is the mid tier with the full UVnano and ioniser air-hygiene kit and the highest small-size efficiency, and Pro is the newer, keenly priced line and usually the cheapest way in.
Is the DUALCOOL Pro any good, and why is it cheaper? +
The Pro is a solid A++ cooling and A+ heating unit with ThinQ and Auto Clean, sold as a consumer-friendly package, which is why it undercuts the others. It runs from about 25 dB(A) and skips the Deluxe's UVnano hygiene suite, but it still uses the same DUAL Inverter compressor and 10-year compressor warranty.
What do UVnano and Plasmaster Ioniser+ do, and which tier has them? +
UVnano uses UV light to reduce bacteria on the fan, and the Plasmaster Ioniser+ releases ions to help clean the air. Both are the Deluxe tier's calling card. Standard Plus and Pro rely on Auto Clean and washable filters instead.
What size DUALCOOL do I need? +
The family runs from 9,000 BTU (about 2.5 kW) up to 24,000 BTU (about 7.0 kW). As a rough guide, 9,000 to 12,000 BTU suits bedrooms and small living rooms, while 18,000 to 24,000 BTU suits larger or open-plan spaces. A heat-load check with your installer beats floor area alone.
What does the 10-year warranty actually cover? +
The 10-year figure covers the DUAL Inverter compressor, the most expensive part to replace. General parts cover is shorter, commonly around 3 years, and both depend on the system being installed by an F-Gas certified engineer and registered.
Can I get a grant for it? +
Possibly. A £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant for air-to-air heat pumps applies in England and Wales from 28 April 2026, but only for a reverse-cycle unit that heats as well as cools and replaces a fossil-fuel heating system, fitted by an MCS-certified installer. Comfort cooling added alongside a gas boiler does not qualify, and it is separate from the larger £7,500 air-to-water grant. Check GOV.UK and Ofgem for the current rules before relying on it. Keep it separate from LG's air-to-water Therma V, which is central heating rather than air conditioning.
