Toshiba air conditioning
Top-tier engineering, now backed by Carrier, with two standout units: the fabric-fronted Haori and the highly efficient Daiseikai 10.
Designer looks and serious efficiency
Toshiba is a well-established name in air conditioning, and its residential range is now backed by Carrier's scale and distribution. The Toshiba company dates back to 1875, though it pioneered its first split air conditioner in 1961. Two units give it a distinct personality. The Haori is a designer wall unit with a changeable textile fabric fascia, in six standard colours plus custom fabric, so it can blend into a living room rather than stand out as a white box. The Daiseikai 10 is a performance flagship, among the most efficient units on the market and one of the best at heating in cold weather.
The mainstream Shorai Edge sits below these in black or white, and entry models such as the Seiya round out the range. Across the line-up you get lower-impact R32 refrigerant, A+++ efficiency on the flagships, very quiet operation down to around 19 dB(A), built-in Wi-Fi, and a solid air-quality package with an Ultra Pure filter and self-cleaning coil as standard on the top units.
Two things to be aware of. Warranty cover is competence-based and depends on your installer's accreditation, and the exact year tiers are not clearly published, so confirm in writing. And since 2022 the Toshiba air conditioning business has been Carrier-owned, which is worth knowing when you arrange warranty or source spares.
