Fujitsu air conditioning
A long-established Japanese split-system brand that UK installers rely on. Quietly excellent, with a range broad enough to cool a whole house.
An installer favourite, with one thing to clear up first
Fujitsu is one of the big-four Japanese split-system brands, alongside Daikin, Mitsubishi Electric and Panasonic, and it has a strong reputation among UK installers for reliable, well-engineered units. First, the thing to clear up: this is Fujitsu air conditioning (made by the company recently renamed GENERAL Inc.), and it has no connection to Fujitsu the computer company. On paperwork you may see Fujitsu, Fujitsu General or GENERAL, but on your wall it is the same trusted brand.
The range is broad and coherent. The Standard Series covers everyday wall-mounted units from small rooms up to around 7 kW, the Designer Series adds premium styling, and there are multi-split, floor, ducted and cassette options so one brand can handle a whole home. Units run on lower-impact R32 refrigerant, are genuinely quiet at low fan speeds, and can be controlled through the FGLair app with Alexa and Google support.
The trade-offs are about how you buy and cover it. Fujitsu is sold and fitted through the trade rather than direct to consumers, so there is no DIY route, and smart control needs an add-on Wi-Fi adaptor. The standard warranty is 3 years, extending to 5 or even 7 years only when you use an accredited installer and register the system.
