Mitsubishi Electric has made air conditioning since the 1950s and is one of the most specified premium brands in UK homes, alongside Daikin. Installers rate it for build quality and, more than anything, for how quietly it runs, with the hero indoor units dropping to around 19 dB(A). That makes it a natural choice for bedrooms and studies.

The M Series covers the range. The MSZ-LN is the designer flagship, offered in four finishes with Plasma Quad Plus air purification, a 3D i-See occupancy sensor that steers airflow around the room, and built-in Wi-Fi as standard. The Elegance range is the mainstream white unit, the Zen is a flat-panel designer option, and the Classic covers the entry point. Current units run on lower-impact R32 refrigerant, and the MSZ-LN reaches the top A+++ rating on smaller capacities.

The trade-offs are price and feature tiering: the best purification, styling and colour options sit on the pricier LN and Zen, while the entry warranty runs for 12 months until you register and have the system maintained by an accredited installer. Worth knowing: this is the Electric brand, separate from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, which also sells home air conditioning in the UK.
