Daikin Perfera vs Stylish: which should you buy?
The current Perfera is now as efficient as the Stylish, or better, and costs around £250 to £300 less fitted. The Stylish earns its premium on looks, a slimmer body, and a quieter top fan speed on the 3.5 kW.
The Perfera is the better buy for most homes: cheaper fitted, at least as efficient, and available in bigger sizes. Pick the Stylish when the unit is on show and its slim body or finishes matter to you.

In the Daikin Perfera vs Stylish choice, the Perfera is the better buy for most homes. The current Perfera (FTXM-A) is at least as efficient as the Stylish at every size from 2.5 to 5.0 kW, comes in more sizes, and costs around £250 to £300 less supplied and fitted.
The Stylish still earns its premium in the right room, though. It sits 63 mm closer to the wall, comes in eight finishes against the Perfera's one, and is noticeably quieter at full fan on the 3.5 kW. If the unit is going to be on show in a living room or bedroom, that can easily be worth the money. If it's going above a door in a study, it probably isn't.

Efficiency and running costs
This is where the old advice has gone stale. For years the line was that the Perfera gave you nearly everything the designer models did, minus a sliver of efficiency. Since Daikin launched the third-generation FTXM-A in 2024, that's flipped. The Perfera now posts a SEER of 9.47 at 2.5 kW and 9.25 at 3.5 kW, against the Stylish's 8.74 and 8.73. Heating is closer, with SCOPs of 5.20 and 5.15. The bigger 4.2 and 5.0 kW models are A++ on both, and the Perfera still edges it there too.
(SEER and SCOP are seasonal efficiency scores for cooling and heating. Higher means more heat moved for each unit of electricity.)
So does that gap show up on your bill? Barely. We cost every unit on our standard running-cost method: cooling is the unit's size in kW x 350 hours (the EU energy label's standard cooling season) ÷ SEER, and heating is 3,000 kWh of heat a year (a moderately used room through a UK winter, the same at 2.5 and 3.5 kW so it stays like for like) ÷ SCOP, all at the Ofgem price cap rate of 26.32p/kWh for 1 October to 31 December 2026, with no VAT on domestic electricity.
| 2.5 kW | Cooling | Heating | Year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perfera | 2.5 x 350 ÷ 9.47 = 92 kWh, £24.21 | 3,000 ÷ 5.20 = 577 kWh, £151.87 | £176.08 |
| Stylish | 2.5 x 350 ÷ 8.74 = 100 kWh, £26.32 | 3,000 ÷ 5.15 = 583 kWh, £153.45 | £179.77 |
| 3.5 kW | Cooling | Heating | Year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perfera | 3.5 x 350 ÷ 9.25 = 132 kWh, £34.74 | 3,000 ÷ 5.20 = 577 kWh, £151.87 | £186.61 |
| Stylish | 3.5 x 350 ÷ 8.73 = 140 kWh, £36.85 | 3,000 ÷ 5.15 = 583 kWh, £153.45 | £190.29 |
How we work out running costs: every unit is costed on the same basis, size x 350 hours of cooling ÷ SEER plus 3,000 kWh of heat ÷ SCOP, at the Ofgem cap rate. It's a fair like-for-like comparison, not a forecast of your bill. Correct as of October 2026; the cap changes quarterly, so check current rates before budgeting.
That's a difference of about £4 a year at both 2.5 kW (£176.08 against £179.77) and 3.5 kW (£186.61 against £190.29). You'd never claw back the Stylish's price premium, and you'd never notice the Perfera's saving either.
If you want a feel for hourly cost, the 3.5 kW Perfera's rated cooling input is 0.76 kW, so roughly 20p an hour at full output at the current cap rate (0.76 x 26.32p). Real homes vary a lot with insulation, room size, and how you set it, which is why we use a fixed method to compare units rather than predict bills. Our guide to whether air conditioners are expensive to run goes into that properly.
There's one heating difference that isn't about pounds. The Perfera's 2.5, 3.5, and 4.2 kW models keep heating down to -21°C outside, where the Stylish is rated to -15°C at every size. The 5.0 kW Perfera is also a -15°C unit, so at that size they're level. In most of the UK that only matters on the odd bitter night, but if you're planning to heat with it through winter, it's a point to the Perfera.
Efficiency is a win for the Perfera, then, but a small one in pounds. The decision really comes down to price, looks, depth, and noise.
Noise
On the quietest setting there's nothing between them. Both bottom out at 19 dB(A) on the 2.0, 2.5, and 3.5 kW sizes.
Above that, the Stylish pulls ahead on two sizes. The 3.5 kW is where it shows most: 41 dB(A) at high fan against the Perfera's 45, and 25 against 29 on low. A 4 dB difference is one you'll hear on a hot afternoon with the unit working hard. On the 5.0 kW in silent mode it's 24 dB(A) against 27. At 2.5 and 4.2 kW the two are within a decibel of each other. Outdoors, the 3.5 kW Perfera is actually the quieter one (47 against 49 dB(A)).
Daikin also says the Stylish is Quiet Mark certified. We found no equivalent claim for the Perfera.
Run either one on silent mode at 3.5 kW or below and you won't hear any difference between them.
For a bedroom that's mostly cooled overnight on silent, either is fine. For a 3.5 kW unit in a lounge that will often be running flat out in a heatwave, the Stylish is the more pleasant one to sit under. There's more on this in our bedroom air conditioning guide.
Looks, depth, and finishes
This is the Stylish's whole reason for being. Heights and widths are almost identical (295 x 798 mm against 298 x 804 mm), but the Stylish is just 189 mm deep where the Perfera is 252 mm. That's 63 mm, or about a quarter, closer to the wall, and it changes how much the unit dominates a room more than the numbers suggest.
Then there's colour. The Perfera comes in white, full stop. The Stylish comes in white, silver, or black, plus five textured fronts added in 2026: light wood, oak (dark wood), grey fabric, colourful fabric, and dark brown leather. Daikin is upfront that these "resemble natural textures" and aren't real wood, leather, or fabric. One London installer mentions that the outdoor unit stays white whatever you pick inside, and that the new textured finishes can carry longer lead times.
Colour can also nudge the price. AAC offers white, black, or silver Stylish units at the same price, while Costco charges £100 more for silver on the 3.5 kW.
Features and sizes
Both have built-in Wi-Fi for Daikin's Onecta app, Flash Streamer air purification, and filters for allergens and odours. Both run on R32 refrigerant, allow the same pipe runs (20 m on 2.0 to 3.5 kW, 30 m on 4.2 and 5.0 kW), and both work on Daikin's multi-split outdoor units with up to five indoor units. That means a Stylish in the lounge and Perferas in the bedrooms on one outdoor unit is a perfectly normal setup.
The sensors do different jobs. The Perfera has a 2-area motion sensor that points airflow away from where people are and drops to an energy-saving setting when the room empties. The Stylish has a thermal sensor that maps the room as a 64-area grid and sends air to the warm or cool spots that need it, plus Coanda-effect flaps that run air along the ceiling to cut down draughts. Daikin lists a second louvre, 3D airflow, and Heat Boost on the Perfera, but not Coanda. Neither approach is clearly better; it's more about whether you'd rather the unit reacted to people or to temperature.
Size range is the bigger practical difference. The Stylish stops at 5.0 kW. The Perfera carries on to 6.0 and 7.1 kW, which matters for a big open-plan kitchen and living space. If you're not sure what you need, our guide to what size air conditioning you need will get you close before an installer surveys the room.
Price
Like for like, the Stylish costs £258 to £300 more fitted at 2.5 kW and £292 to £300 more at 3.5 kW, based on AAC Air Conditioning and Costco UK.
| Supplied and fitted | Perfera 2.5 kW | Stylish 2.5 kW | Perfera 3.5 kW | Stylish 3.5 kW |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AAC Air Conditioning | £1,888 | £2,146 | £2,034 | £2,326 |
| Costco UK | £2,099.99 | £2,399.99 (white) | £2,299.99 | £2,599.99 (white), £2,699.99 (silver) |
Prices correct as of October 2026. AAC prices assume a 3 to 5 m pipe run; longer runs add about £73 to £441. Costco's installed packages were showing as out of stock online in mid-October.
Those are standard single-room installs. Your own quote will move with pipe length, access, and electrics, so it's worth getting a couple. Our guide to how much air conditioning costs explains what pushes a quote up or down.
Warranty
The same for both, and it depends on who fits the unit rather than which model you choose. Daikin UK offers up to 7 years on air conditioning equipment when it's fitted by a D1 or D1+ partner, and up to 5 years through a Certified Installer. Otherwise it's a standard 1 or 3 years, depending on the product. Your installer arranges the cover, so ask for the length, what it covers, and any servicing conditions in writing on the quote.
Which should you buy?
For most people, the Perfera. It's the cheaper unit, it's at least as efficient as the Stylish (on paper, slightly more so), it heats down to -21°C outside on the 2.5 to 4.2 kW sizes, and it goes up to 7.1 kW. In a bedroom, study, or anywhere the unit isn't the first thing you see, the extra £250 to £300 for a Stylish buys you very little.
The Stylish makes sense when the wall it hangs on matters. Living rooms, open-plan spaces with a feature wall, and bedrooms where the unit faces the bed are where its slimmer body and finishes pay off. If you also tend to run a 3.5 kW unit hard on hot days, its quieter top fan speed is a genuine bonus.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Perfera or the Stylish more efficient? +
The current Perfera FTXM-A, on paper. At 2.5 kW it's SEER 9.47 and SCOP 5.20 against the Stylish's 8.74 and 5.15. In money that's worth about £4 a year at 2.5 or 3.5 kW on our standard running-cost method at the October 2026 price cap rate, so it shouldn't decide things on its own.
Is the Stylish quieter than the Perfera? +
Both go down to 19 dB(A) on the 2.0 to 3.5 kW sizes. The Stylish is quieter at high and low fan on the 3.5 kW (41 against 45 dB(A) on high) and in silent mode on the 5.0 kW (24 against 27 dB(A)).
How much more does the Stylish cost? +
About £250 to £300 more supplied and fitted at 2.5 and 3.5 kW, based on AAC and Costco prices in October 2026. Costco charges £100 more again for a silver 3.5 kW Stylish.
How slim is the Stylish compared with the Perfera? +
The Stylish is 189 mm deep and the Perfera 252 mm. Height (295 against 298 mm) and width (798 against 804 mm) are almost the same.
What sizes does each come in? +
The Perfera comes in seven sizes from 2.0 to 7.1 kW. The Stylish comes in five, from 2.0 to 5.0 kW. Both also have a 1.5 kW indoor unit for multi-split systems only.
What colours does the Stylish come in? +
Eight: white, silver, black, light wood, oak wood, grey fabric, colourful fabric, and dark brown leather looks. The textured fronts are imitations rather than real wood, fabric, or leather. The Perfera is white only.
Do both have Wi-Fi and Flash Streamer? +
Yes. Both have built-in Wi-Fi for the Onecta app and Daikin's Flash Streamer air purification.
Is the warranty different? +
No. Both get up to 7 years when fitted by a Daikin D1 or D1+ partner, or up to 5 years through a Certified Installer, otherwise a standard 1 or 3 years depending on the product. Your installer arranges it, so check any servicing conditions.
Which is better for heating in winter? +
The Perfera, slightly. It has the higher SCOP (5.20 against 5.15 at 2.5 and 3.5 kW), and the 2.5 to 4.2 kW models keep heating down to -21°C outside against the Stylish's -15°C. At 5.0 kW both are rated to -15°C.
Can I mix a Perfera and a Stylish on one multi-split? +
Yes. Both run on Daikin's multi-split outdoor units with up to five indoor units, so a Stylish in the lounge and Perferas in the bedrooms works fine.
