Perfera FTXM-A

The Perfera FTXM-A is Daikin's high-efficiency all-rounder, and it is the wall-mounted split we would point most homes towards unless a designer fascia is the priority. It spans the widest size range in Daikin's comfort line, 2.0 to 7.1 kW, so one model covers a small bedroom through to a large open-plan space. It also posts class-leading efficiency, up to SEER 8.65 in cooling and SCOP 5.10 in heating, with an A+++ label in both on the smaller sizes, and it runs down to a genuinely bedroom-quiet 19 dB(A). Flash Streamer air purification and Wi-Fi through the Onecta app come as standard.

What you give up is styling. It is a plain white box rather than a design statement, and like any fixed split it is supplied and fitted by an F-Gas certified engineer rather than bought and plugged in, so you work from a quote rather than a shelf price. For most homes that is an easy trade: you get all but a sliver of the performance of the pricier Emura and Stylish for less money. If the look of the indoor unit matters more to you than value, those designer models are worth a look; for everyone else, the Perfera is the sensible premium choice.

The Perfera is a wall-mounted R32 split system: an FTXM-A indoor unit paired with an RXM-A outdoor condenser, or an indoor unit running on a Daikin multi-split outdoor unit that serves several rooms. R32 is the lower-impact refrigerant now standard on quality splits, and any work on the sealed circuit has to be done by an F-Gas certified engineer, so this is a fitted product, not a DIY one. A floor-standing version, the FVXM-A, is also sold for spots under a window where a wall unit will not go.

It sits at the top of Daikin's comfort range on performance while staying below the designer Emura and Stylish on price. Its seasonal efficiency ratings, SEER for cooling and SCOP for heating, are among the best of any home split, and it holds an A+++ energy label in both cooling and heating on the smaller capacities. Add Flash Streamer air purification, which uses electrons to break down allergens and odours, a titanium apatite deodorising filter and Wi-Fi as standard, and you have the unit most installers reach for when looks are not the deciding factor.

It comes in six cooling sizes, 2.0, 2.5, 3.5, 5.0, 6.0 and 7.1 kW, the widest spread of Daikin's comfort splits, so one range covers a box room through to a large open-plan living space. It suits anyone who wants near-flagship comfort, low running costs and clean air without paying the designer premium, and who is happy with a discreet plain white unit on the wall.

The Perfera is priced supplied and fitted, so there is no single shelf price. As a guide, a standard single-room install of a common size runs from roughly £2,000 to £2,400. Real fixed prices from one UK installer put the 3.5 kW at around £2,034, the 5.0 kW at about £2,306 and the 6.0 kW near £2,375 on a standard 3 to 5 metre pipe run, with more for longer runs, high-level work or a multi-split setup. Costco UK and many accredited installers also sell fixed-price installed packages across the 2.0 to 7.1 kW range. Always work from two or three live quotes for your own home rather than a headline figure.

Running costs are low for the comfort on offer. At the July 2026 Ofgem price cap unit rate of 26.11p per kWh, a 3.5 kW unit cooling flat out draws roughly 0.8 to 1 kW, so about 21p to 26p an hour, dropping to a few pence once the room is at temperature and the unit modulates down. In heating the high SCOP means it returns around five units of heat for every unit of electricity on the smaller sizes, far cheaper than a plug-in heater delivering the same warmth. As a reverse-cycle air-to-air heat pump it may qualify for the £2,500 Boiler Upgrade Scheme grant in England and Wales, but only if it replaces a fossil-fuel heating system and is fitted by an MCS-certified installer; comfort cooling added alongside a gas boiler does not qualify, and it is separate from the larger £7,500 air-to-water grant. Prices and rates correct as of July 2026; the energy price cap changes quarterly, so check current rates before budgeting.
