Stylish FTXA

The Stylish is Daikin's designer wall split and, for most homes, the sweet spot in the range. It pairs the slimmest cabinet Daikin makes, just 189 mm deep, with the widest choice of finishes on the UK market and class-leading efficiency, so it earns its place in a living room or bedroom where a plain white box would look wrong. On the 2.0 to 3.5 kW sizes it is A+++ in both cooling and heating and settles to a genuinely bedroom-quiet 19 dB(A).

You pay a premium over the plainer Perfera for the looks and the slim profile rather than for extra cooling, and the larger 4.2 and 5.0 kW units step down to A++. But the build, the quiet running and Daikin's after-sales network are hard to fault, which makes the Stylish one of the easiest premium splits to recommend for a design-led room.

The Stylish (model code FTXA-A/B indoors, RXA outdoors) is a wall-mounted R32 split: one indoor unit paired with an outdoor condenser, or an indoor unit running on a Daikin multi-split system serving several rooms. It is a reverse-cycle unit, meaning it heats as well as cools. What sets it apart from a standard split is the cabinet, a flat, ultra-slim front just 189 mm deep, the shallowest Daikin makes, with the airflow outlets concealed so it recedes into the wall rather than jutting out.

It suits anyone who wants the room to look considered rather than kitted out. There is a choice of up to eight finishes, from white, silver and matt black to wood, fabric and leather-look fronts, the widest on the UK domestic market. Behind the design it is a proper performer: A+++ efficiency and 19 dB(A) quiet running on the smaller sizes, Flash Streamer air purification, a titanium apatite deodorising filter, a grid-eye sensor that steers airflow away from people, and built-in Wi-Fi through the Onecta app.

Five sizes cover 2.0 to 5.0 kW, roughly small bedroom to open-plan living room. If you want the same Daikin engineering without the designer premium, the plainer Perfera is the value pick; if you want a curved statement piece, the Emura is the alternative. The Stylish is the one to choose when a slim, quiet, good-looking unit matters as much as the numbers.

Supplied and fitted, a Daikin Stylish runs from roughly £2,100 to £2,900 across the domestic sizes for a straightforward single-room install. As a guide, a 2.5 kW unit starts from about £2,146 fitted with a standard 3 to 5 m pipe run, while a 3.5 kW installed package comes in around £2,700. Longer pipe runs, larger sizes, a specialist finish or a harder install push the figure up, so treat these as indicative and always work from a written quote. There is no self-install option, as an R32 split has to be fitted by an F-Gas certified engineer by law.

Running costs are low for a premium unit. The smaller Stylish units reach SCOP 5.15, so in heating they return roughly five units of warmth for every unit of electricity, and cooling a 2.5 kW unit at steady load costs only a few pence to around 15p an hour at an electricity unit rate of 26.11p per kWh (the Ofgem price cap as of July 2026).
